Jim died spt. 20th 73. a thursday night. I remember the radio saying a couple days later, guess the news was slower then.Ironically this single was released the same day.The album was released Dec. His music brings me back to a better time. I was a teen then. still love it now! He was a true musician/storyteller. Something you dont see much these days. Long live Jims music and lots of other great music and true musicians of the 70s. Never be another music decade like that one!

SON-OF-GUN; JUST MADE IT!!! In 1973 "I Got A Name" peaked at No. 10 thus just making the Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 17 weeks in the Top 100...It was the theme song for the 1973 movie "The Last American Hero" and was featured in the movies "The Ice Storm" and "Invincible"...This record was sandwiched between two No. 1 records by Jim Croce; "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "Time In A Bottle"...

This reminds me of a time when Americans were proud to be free. We have sold our freedoms for security. NO MORE!! RON PAUL!!

@johnbrown53160 Yep! Me too! That's why I am playing it now. Ageless tune. I just realized that Jim Croce died in January 1973. He has been gone longer than he was here. Hard to believe. |
